Description

9ct Gold Pearl Drop Earrings – Birmingham 1968

Designed in the classic late-1960s style, each earring features a softly articulated drop formed by two lustrous cultured pearls, creating graceful movement and a wonderfully feminine line.

The upper pearl measures 5mm and supports a larger 7.5mm pearl suspended below, both displaying a rich creamy ivory tone and a deep, glowing lustre. Their refined proportions make them perfectly suited for both formal and occasion wear, offering timeless beauty with every movement.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mid-20th-century earrings often combined clean linear metalwork with classic cultured pearls, reflecting a shift towards versatile, everyday elegance while retaining traditional craftsmanship.

British pieces from this era were typically crafted from 9-carat yellow gold, featuring secure hook or post fittings, often joined with jump rings and detailed with bezel or cup settings for pearls.

Authenticity is verified through official UK hallmark stamps, which typically include a makers mark, the standard purity mark (such as .375 for 9ct gold), a sponsor mark, and a date letter corresponding to the assay office.

These versatile pieces complement both tailored evening wear and minimalist daytime outfits, adding a touch of classic warmth and understated sophistication.

Pearls should be wiped gently with a soft, damp cloth after wear and stored separately from harder metals to avoid scratching; avoid exposing them to harsh chemicals, perfumes, or ultrasonic cleaners.
