Herb choppers, often referred to as mezzalunas or mincing knives, date back centuries and were essential kitchen implements used for finely dicing herbs, spices, and vegetables before the invention of mechanical food processors.

These domestic implements were typically crafted with blades made from forged steel, iron, or brass, paired with turned handles fashioned from dense hardwoods such as fruitwood, boxwood, or walnut.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-forged or cast metal characteristics, natural patination, hand-turned wooden handles with traditional joinery, and wear patterns consistent with genuine domestic use from the period.

These objects add historical texture and curated character when displayed on open shelving, mounted on kitchen walls as part of a gallery arrangement, or styled within rustic and traditional interior schemes.

Preserve these pieces by keeping them away from excessive moisture and direct sunlight. Clean metal components gently with a dry microfibre cloth and apply neutral wax sparingly to wooden handles to maintain their condition.
