Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Meiji period in Japan (18681912) marked a major opening to Western trade, during which Japanese metalworkers adapted traditional samurai armour-making techniques to create highly detailed decorative bronze sculptures for international export.

These pieces were typically crafted using the lost-wax casting method (cire perdue), utilising high-grade bronze alloys often featuring patination treatments and inlaid elements such as glass, shakudo, or gold highlights.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit heavy weight, refined anatomical precision, naturalistic movement, and frequently bear artist signatures, foundry marks, or stamps chiselled or cast into the base.

An antique bronze sculpture serves as a strong focal point when placed on a dark wood mantelpiece, a minimalist console table, or within a study to add historical depth and tactile contrast to contemporary spaces.

Preserve antique bronze by dusting gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoiding chemical polishes that can strip the historic patina, and maintaining stable indoor humidity levels.
