A koro is a traditional Japanese vessel designed specifically for burning incense during ceremonies or for perfuming living spaces, often crafted in ceramic or metal.

Edo period metalworkers primarily utilised the lost-wax casting technique with copper alloys, followed by meticulous hand-chasing, patination, and engraving to achieve fine surface textures.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit natural patination, hand-finished detailing without modern machine marks, and consistent wear patterns appropriate for their age.

Position the piece as a focal point on a low wooden coffee table, a minimalist bookshelf, or a mantelpiece to highlight its sculptural form against neutral backdrops.

Dust the surface gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid using chemical polishes, water, or abrasive cleaners that can strip the historic patina.
