Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

The practice of repurposing flatweave tribal rugs to upholster western furniture frames gained popularity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, driven by an aesthetic appreciation for eastern textiles within European interior design.

These pieces typically feature a solid hardwood frame, traditionally made from woods like oak or mahogany, upholstered with hand-woven wool or wool-cotton blend flatweave carpets, often finished with cord piping and supported by turned wooden legs.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the age of the wooden frame, the hand-spun wool characteristics and natural dye variations of the flatweave textile, traditional hand-stitching methods, and wear patterns consistent with genuine age.

A kilim sofa serves as a strong focal point and pairs well with neutral walls, minimalist surrounding furniture, and natural textures like leather, linen, and unpolished wood to let the vibrant geometric patterns stand out.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming with a low-suction attachment through a mesh screen, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fading of natural dyes, and professional cleaning when necessary.
