We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Eighteenth-century botanical engravings are characterised by meticulous scientific accuracy combined with artistic precision, often hand-coloured to highlight natural plant characteristics for taxonomic study.

Prints from this period were typically produced on laid paper using copperplate engraving techniques, then set into bespoke wood frames such as figured maple, birds-eye maple, or gilt moulding.

Authentication involves examining the paper for watermarks and chain lines indicative of hand-made laid paper, checking for plate marks left by the copper printing process, and inspecting the ageing of the timber frame.

These pieces work exceptionally well when hung in pairs or symmetrical galleries against neutral or richly painted walls, bringing organic texture and historical depth to traditional or modern interiors.

To prevent fading and degradation, antique engravings should be kept away from direct sunlight, framed with acid-free backing materials, and displayed in environments with stable humidity and temperature.
