Still life painting focusing on floral arrangements gained significant prominence during the Dutch Golden Age of the 17th century and evolved through various artistic movements, including impressionism and modernism, celebrating the ephemeral beauty of nature.

Traditional oil paintings typically utilise linen or cotton canvas stretched over a wooden frame, pigmented oil paints bound with linseed oil, and gesso-prepared surfaces, often housed in carved wood and plaster or gilded frames.

Authentic period pieces are identified through examining canvas ageing, craquelure patterns in the paint layer, pigment composition, stretcher frame construction, and the presence of artist signatures or historical framing techniques.

Pairing a traditional framed artwork with minimalist modern surroundings creates a striking focal point, bridging historical character with clean architectural lines for a curated aesthetic.

Preservation requires maintaining stable temperature and humidity levels, keeping the artwork away from direct sunlight, and dusting gently with a soft, dry brush while leaving professional cleaning and varnish removal to conservators.
