Equine art gained significant popularity during the 18th and 19th centuries, often commissioned by landowners and nobility to document prized horses, hunters, and racehorses.

These works typically utilise oil-based pigments applied to stretched linen or cotton canvas, often mounted on wooden stretcher frames and finished with a protective varnish layer.

Authentic pieces exhibit visible brushwork, craquelure in the paint surface under magnification, and canvas texture on the reverse, lacking the dot matrix pattern associated with modern printing.

Pairing traditional equestrian artwork with contemporary minimalist furniture creates a sophisticated contrast, adding warmth and narrative depth to neutral walls.

Keep paintings away from direct sunlight and high humidity fluctuations, and dust the canvas gently with a dry, soft-bristled brush without using liquid cleaners.
