We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Georgian style spans the reigns of the four British kings named George from 1714 to 1830, characterised by a transition from heavy, carved walnut to refined mahogany, incorporating classical proportions influenced by Palladianism and neoclassical movements.

Georgian chests of drawers were traditionally constructed from dense hardwoods like mahogany, oak for drawer linings, and deal for secondary backs, utilising hand-cut dovetail joints, pegged framing, and fire-gilded or cast brass hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetails with irregularities, historical shrinkage cracks, old wax patination, secondary woods appropriate to the period, and hand-forged or cast brass handles matching original bore holes.

A Georgian chest works effectively as a grounding focal point in contemporary spaces, often contrasted against neutral walls or paired with minimalist modern art to highlight its historic craftsmanship and warm timber tones.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fading, dusting with a dry microfiber cloth, and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the historic timber finish.
