FAQs

Still life art focuses on the depiction of inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects such as food, flowers, and household items, arranged in a deliberate composition.

Traditional oil paintings are typically executed using linseed or walnut oil-based pigments applied to stretched canvas, wooden panels, or heavy paper, often housed in hand-carved and gilded wooden frames.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the canvas weave, stretcher bar construction, pigment composition under magnification, craquelure patterns, and any artist signatures or historical gallery labels on the reverse.

Pairing a traditional oil painting with modern or minimalist furnishings creates a striking juxtaposition, adding depth, texture, and historical contrast to a neutral wall space.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity and temperature levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent pigment fading, and periodically dusting the canvas surface with a soft, dry brush.
