Chelsea Derby refers to the period between 1770 and 1784 when William Duesbury operated both the Chelsea and Derby porcelain factories concurrently, producing refined soft-paste porcelain with distinctive neoclassical and floral designs.

Items from this era typically utilized soft-paste porcelain compositions, fired at lower temperatures, and were meticulously hand-painted over or under glaze with enamel colours often highlighted with gilding.

Authentic pieces often feature early factory marks such as the gold or anchor-and-D monogram, alongside characteristic potting imperfections, crazing, and fine hand-painted polychrome floral sprays typical of the 18th century.

Antique porcelain can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, on open shelving using secure plate stands, or incorporated as a refined focal point on a sideboard to add historic character to contemporary spaces.

Preserve antique porcelain by washing gently by hand in lukewarm water with mild soap when necessary, avoiding dishwashers and harsh abrasives, and keeping items away from direct sunlight to protect the enamel colours and gilding.
