We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The aneroid barometer, which uses a flexible metal capsule rather than liquid mercury, became widely accessible for domestic use during the Victorian and Edwardian periods, serving as both a functional scientific tool and a decorative household object.

These instruments typically feature an internal brass aneroid mechanism enclosed within a metal case, often crafted from sterling silver or plated mounts, backed by dense hardwoods such as mahogany or oak to ensure durability and aesthetic refinement.

Authenticity is generally determined by examining the assay hallmarks on the silver casing, the hand-painted or engraved porcelain and enamel dial faces, and the traditional mechanical movement typical of early 20th-century craftsmanship.

An antique barometer adds a layer of historic character and refined detail when mounted on a panelled wall, displayed within a study, or integrated into a curated gallery wall alongside other vintage scientific or navigational artefacts.

To preserve the piece, keep it away from direct sunlight and high humidity, clean the silver casing periodically with a specialized non-abrasive polishing cloth, and avoid attempting to adjust the delicate internal mechanical movement without professional guidance.
