We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

This nineteenth-century French provincial kitchen cabinet is constructed from solid oak with a warm brown timber finish. The tall, narrow storage piece stands 183 cm high, 93 cm wide, and 53 cm deep, supported on low plinth feet. The upper section contains a single cupboard enclosed by a field-panelled door hung on exposed iron strap hinges, complete with a small side latch and delicate arched mouldings. Beneath the enclosed compartment, the open lower section includes a scalloped apron, a protective front guardrail supported by turned spindles, and a lower shelf. Practical for contemporary country kitchens or dining rooms, this rustic farmhouse unit provides both concealed and open display storage. The exposed side panel displays historic timber wear from past worm activity, while the lower shelf and base offer space for everyday items or decorative objects. The combination of traditional French country joinery and functional compartments makes this cabinet a versatile storage solution for everyday living spaces.

French provincial dressers originated in the 18th and 19th centuries, crafted by regional woodworkers for rural estates and farmhouses outside Paris. These pieces adapted formal Parisian furniture designs into functional, durable storage for daily kitchen utility.

These dressers were predominantly constructed using locally sourced hardwoods, particularly solid oak or fruitwood. Joinery techniques included hand-cut mortise and tenon joints secured with wooden pegs, fielded panel doors, and hand-forged iron hardware.

Authentic pieces display evidence of hand-planed timber surfaces, irregular peg placement around joinery, and natural wear patterns on feet and handles. Original iron hinges, hand-forged locks, and uneven timber thickness on rear backboards also indicate historical construction.

A tall oak cupboard serves as a striking freestanding focal point in modern kitchens, dining areas, or hallways. It provides texture when contrasted against smooth plaster walls, modern quartz worktops, or polished concrete flooring.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and radiators to prevent timber shrinkage or splitting.
