Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

FAQs

The French Empire style emerged during the reign of Napoleon I in the early 19th century, drawing heavy aesthetic inspiration from the classical civilisations of ancient Rome, Greece, and Egypt.

These pieces typically feature solid timber frames with figured wood veneers, such as walnut or mahogany, mounted with fire-gilt bronze or brass hardware and topped with heavy marble slabs.

Authentic pieces often exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, traditional hand-applied French polish finishes, symmetrical flame-figured veneer patterns, and original cast metal mounts without modern machine markings.

Pairing this historic statement piece with minimalist contemporary art and clean-line seating creates a sophisticated contrast that anchors modern living spaces or bedrooms.

Maintain stable indoor humidity and temperature levels away from direct sunlight and heat sources, applying a high-quality microcrystalline wax periodically while avoiding harsh chemical cleaning products.
