During the First World War, the Royal Flying Corps required reliable timekeeping instruments mounted in aircraft cockpits or used by pilots, often featuring eight-day movements to reduce the frequency of winding during active service.

These timepieces typically featured robust nickel-plated or silver cases designed to withstand vibration, clear enamel dials with high-contrast numerals for legibility, and heavy-duty mechanical movements.

Authentic pieces usually bear official military issue markings, specific service stamps such as R.A.F. or RFC, maker signatures like H.W. Williamson Ltd, and serial numbers corresponding to military records.

Displaying the item on a specialized desk stand or within a glass tabletop vitrine allows it to serve as a sophisticated historical focal point in a study or office space.

Keep the watch away from extreme moisture and magnetic fields, store it in a stable environment, and have it serviced periodically by a professional horologist experienced in antique movements.
