Victorian bronze sculptures often feature realistic human figures, detailed textures, and naturalistic patinas, reflecting the artistic sensibilities of the late 19th century.

These pieces were typically crafted using the lost-wax casting method (cire perdue) or sand casting, utilising copper alloys to produce durable bronze with varied patination.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the quality of the chasing and finishing, the presence of period-appropriate patination, and the integrity of signatures or foundry marks.

Such pieces serve as focal points on sideboards, desks, or mantelpieces, contrasting effectively with minimalist contemporary furnishings to add historical depth.

Preservation involves dusting with a soft, dry brush and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to protect the metal surface from moisture and oxidation.
