FAQs

Antique landscape oil paintings from this era typically focus on naturalism, capturing atmospheric effects, rural scenery, and everyday pastoral life with expressive brushwork.

Artists traditionally used ground pigments mixed with linseed oil applied to stretched linen or cotton canvas, often supported by wooden stretcher frames.

Authenticity is evaluated by inspecting canvas weave, stretcher frame construction, natural ageing such as craquelure in the oil paint layer, and the presence of artist signatures or stamps.

Pair the artwork with understated frames and neutral wall colours to let the historic textures and muted palette anchor the rooms design scheme.

Keep paintings away from direct sunlight and dramatic humidity fluctuations, and clean the canvas surface gently using a soft, dry brush without chemical solvents.
