A George IV combination wardrobe is a large storage furniture piece from the early 19th century that typically integrates hanging spaces, shelves, and a central chest of drawers into a single unified architectural unit.

These pieces were typically constructed using solid mahogany and flame mahogany veneers over secondary softwoods, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, solid brass handles, and hand-turned wooden knobs.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct joinery such as hand-cut dovetails on drawer boxes, authentic patination on the timber, original brass locks, and construction methods characteristic of pre-industrial cabinet making.

This substantial architectural piece works well as a focal storage anchor in a traditional or transitional bedroom, allowing the rich grain of the mahogany to contrast against neutral wall colours.

Maintain the timber by dusting with a soft, dry cloth and applying high-quality beeswax periodically to nourish the wood, keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity fluctuations.
