FAQs

French Impressionism focuses on capturing light, loose brushwork, and everyday scenes, often depicting landscapes or still lifes with vibrant colour palettes.

Artists typically used pigment suspended in oil applied to stretched canvas, framed in ornate carved wood or gesso frames, often signed by hand.

Authentication involves examining signature characteristics, canvas ageing, stretcher bar marks, brushstroke texture under magnification, and consulting catalogue raisonnes.

Pairing a traditional gilt-framed canvas with clean architectural lines creates a sophisticated contrast, anchoring contemporary rooms with classic depth.

Keep canvases away from direct sunlight and high humidity fluctuations, dusting gently with a soft brush and avoiding chemical cleaners on the paint surface.
