In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

The Northern School style typically features industrial or rural Northern English landscapes, characterised by muted earth tones, heavy brushwork, and a focus on everyday working-class environments.

These works are usually executed with artist-grade oil paints applied to a rigid support such as hardwood board, Masonite, or millboard, often sealed with a gesso primer.

Authentication involves examining the ageing of the oil medium, board composition, stretcher marks if applicable, artist signatures, framing materials, and sometimes exhibition labels on the reverse.

Vintage landscape paintings add character to modern spaces when hung at eye level against neutral walls, paired with simple frames that complement the earthy palette without competing with the composition.

Preservation requires displaying the artwork away from direct sunlight and high humidity, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, and ensuring stable indoor temperatures to prevent warping of the board.
