Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Eighteenth-century oak furniture is characterised by solid timber construction, pegged joints, and utilitarian functionality that transitioned into more refined domestic forms during the Georgian period.

These pieces were constructed primarily from quarter-sawn British oak, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer boxes, solid timber backs and bottoms, and forged iron or brass hardware.

Authenticity is determined by examining the patination, hand-planed surfaces, irregular tool marks inside the drawers, original timber shrinkage, and period-appropriate fixings or lock plates.

Pair the piece with contemporary minimalist artwork or neutral walls to create a striking contrast that highlights the rich grain, historical texture, and warm tones of the timber.

Maintain antique oak by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, feeding the wood periodically with traditional beeswax, and avoiding silicone-based polishes.
