Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

An antique oak dresser base is a traditional lower cabinetry unit originally used in country houses for food preparation and storage, typically predating the upper plate rack.

These pieces were handcrafted primarily from solid English oak, featuring traditional joinery techniques such as hand-cut dovetails, mortise and tenon frames, and often fitted with cast brass hardware.

Authenticity is identified through hand-planed timber surfaces, irregular grain patterns, handmade iron or brass fixings, and structural peg joinery that exhibits natural shrinkage and oxidisation over centuries.

Pairing the rich timber tones with minimalist contemporary decor or contrasting it against neutral plastered walls creates a balanced focal point that grounds modern living spaces.

Preserve the wood by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight, feeding the timber periodically with natural beeswax, and avoiding silicone-based polishes.
