FAQs

French iron and brass beds gained popularity during the 19th century as industrial manufacturing allowed for intricate metal shaping and casting, moving away from traditional wooden frames.

These beds typically combined tubular iron for the structural framework with brass accents, cast iron decorative joints, and ceramic or metal casters.

Authentic pieces often feature hand-poured iron castings, threaded joints, original brass embellishments, and signs of age such as oxidation or wear on the finish.

Pair the industrial or traditional lines of the metal frame with crisp, neutral linens and contemporary lighting to create a balanced, eclectic bedroom aesthetic.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a soft, dry cloth and avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that could damage the aged patina or protective coating.
