Description

This is a very handsome antique Heriz Carpet from North-West Persia, with handspun wool and natural dyes. The design is from a small group of Heriz carpets which have repeat floral and leaf designs influenced by classical Persian urban carpets. This charming carpet is attempting to replicate a very formal design, but it full of village charm with lovely abrashes in the colours and idiosyncrasies in the design. For example, note the way the ornaments in the corners of the main borders are truncated. The dense design is very harmonious and would lift many decorative settings, both period and contemporary. It is a lovely size and has survived the generations in good condition with only minimal signs of wear or repair. professionally cleaned and ready for immediate use.
