Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Emerging during the late Georgian and Regency periods, flat-fronted chests feature a straightforward rectangular facade without the curves of bow-fronted or serpentine designs. They typically showcase a two-short-over-three-long drawer configuration framed by bracket feet.

Primary woods usually consisted of high-grade Cuban or Honduran mahogany, often accented with flame mahogany veneers on drawer fronts. Secondary woods for internal drawer linings commonly included oak, pine, or deal, joined using hand-cut dovetail joints.

Look for hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer sides, cockbeading around the drawer edges, original cast brass handles or keyhole escutcheons, and natural wear or shrinkage in the secondary timber backboards.

Place the chest against a neutral backdrop to highlight the warmth of the polished timber. Pair it with modern table lamps, contemporary artwork, or minimalist decorative ceramics on top to create a balanced contrast between period and modern design elements.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft cotton cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the patina. Avoid placement near direct heat sources or in direct sunlight to prevent timber movement, cracking, or veneer fading.
