Antique Caucasian Shirvan Baku Khila Long Rug, Circa 1900.

Description

Size: 7ft 5in x 3ft 8in (225 x 113cm).

Antique Caucasian Shirvan Khila rug from the Baku region of the Eastern Caucasus.

Circa 1900.

A good example of a Khila long rug with six medallions on a dark indigo blue ground, the medallions are of classic Khila diamond design. The field is filled with floral rosettes, boteh and other tribal devices. The use of soft green in the upper medallion is very pleasing.

The rug is in excellent condition with even wear and medium pile, there are a few very small old repairs that I have detected, these are only visible upon very close inspection.

The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
