What a superb rug! The finest materials were sourced and the best weavers were employed to produce this exceptional example of Persian rug weaving. Dating to the early 20th century, the colours are as fresh and exciting as the day it was taken off the loom. Fine silk and glorious colours have been combined with an ornate but restrained design to create a work of art that exudes luxury and sophistication. From the urn at the bottom of the field to the elegant flowers and blossoms, every element has been artistically drawn with great attention to detail. Note the lovely gold spandrels filled with small sparking blossoms. And the border, with its feather-like leaves and more flowers is a perfect frame for the field. In excellent condition, this piece has obviously been cherished through the generations. Good pile throughout, original ends and selvages intact.
