An Early 19th Century Metamorphic Mahogany Washstand

Description

A good 19th century metamorphic mahogany WASHSTAND, with integral foldaway mirror, two drawers, one of which is lidded and pulls open to reveal a blue and white porcelain bowl contained within its own recess.

There are ten other various sized slots and lidded compartments with brass handles, including a circular slot for a water jug. The mirror folds away within the top section and two hinged lids close over to reduce the width by half. The front is decorated with brass escutcheons and round brass handles. The whole unit is supported on tapering straight legs.

Dated: c.1825-40
