Country Homes Antiques Stirling has dated this French Rural Landscape Painting to the 1860s.
The work is signed, titled snd dated lower right and beautifully painted. He was a pupil of Leon Cogniet and his work is held in numerous museums.

Born 18 April 1817, in Granville (Manche).
Painter. Religious subjects, portraits, scenes with figures.
Studied under Cogniet and worked first in Paris then in Versailles. Exhibited on a regular basis at the Paris Salon between 1843 and 1875. Principally remembered as a portrait artist in the classical mould, who was nevertheless given to a touch of romanticism in his scenes of ladies in crinolines.
