However, it rug retains several features of the nomadic tradition. It has an all-wool foundation with soft handspun wool. The field is woven with undyed lambswool. The design is dominated by a single tree which is centred by a stepped polygon with latchhooks, an ornament associated with the ancient Luri tribe. There are no superfluous additional ornaments, another indication of a pure tribal tradition. This is a very striking rug which has survived in generally good condition with only minor traces of wear. Professionally cleaned.
