Description

Dating to around 1890, this Mahal weaving falls into the interesting size between a runner and a kellei, and is often referred to as a long rug. It has the additional width to a runner which makes a useful size for wider hallways and public spaces. In additional it is quite beautiful with a rich indigo field which has been decorated with an intricate all-over floral pattern, often called the Gol-Henna design in Persia. Note too the ruby red border. The wool has a lustrous quality and shimmers. In good condition and professionally cleaned, this would make a fine statement in many decorative settings.
