Farnham Antique Carpets has dated this piece to the 1890s.
Woven with an all over lattice design of connecting vines and leaves, this design was used constantly throughout the late 19th century in Sultanabad, Persia.

Both ends/fringes have been professionally restored, as both had a few centimetres of damage. The pile height is good and since being washed the handle is light too. A few minor areas of wear, but for a rug of over 130 years old it is still very durable and a beautiful rug.
