Antique Caucasian triple medallion Kazak rug with superb colour and great design.

2nd half 19th century.

This rug is an outstanding example of this clearly defined group of Kazak rugs from the south west Caucasus. This example is of the classic design with two white octagons and the central white medallion. The design of the white octagon medallions shows a clear connection with the designs found in Lori Pambak rugs.

The border is of the relatively scarce 'arrow block' design on a dark indigo ground.

The rug is in excellent condition with all over even wear and medium pile, the border is in full pile with long glossy wool.

The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use.
