Antique Turkish Ghiordes Prayer Rug of Classic Design, Circa 1800.

Size: 6ft 7in x 4ft 6in (200 x 136cm).

Antique Turkish Ghiordes prayer rug of classic design with multiple stripe borders.

Circa 1800.

The rug is beautifully drawn with superb pastel colours through out with an ivory central field.. The multiple stripe border design is very attractive, this is also found on some Kula rugs of a similar age, note the outer border of carnation flowers.

The rug is in fair condition with wear, heavy in places and medium / low pile with a few areas of foundation showing. There are a few scattered old re-weaves and repairs as one would expect with a rug of this age, both ends have tape applied.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display. The rug is suitable for very light domestic use, but would make a superb wall hanging.
