Made by Luri nomads during the last quarter of the 19th century, the overall condition of pile is excellent. Nineteenth century gabbehs are now scarce, particularly as they were heavily used for everyday use in the black tents, and when worn out, were simply discarded. Today, they have become collectable in the world market, not only for their rarity but for the stunning, abstract, tribal patterning.
