Antique Caucasian Kazak rug with a single column of boxed 'Memlinc guls'.

Circa 1890.

A superb Kazak rug with a single vertical column of five 'Memlinc guls'; this is a rug of outstanding colour and design. The five guls stand out against the madder red inner field which is framed by an inner and outer guard of stars on a light blue ground. The main border is the classic white ground 'S' design. The rug has wonderful soft wool and fully saturated dyes.

The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear with good long pile with a soft floppy handle.

Hand washed and ready for use or display.

The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
