Description

Woven in the late 19th Century in Anatolia, western Turkey, these exquisite hand-woven carpets have been produced since the start of the Ottoman period (1300-1922). The mid to late 19th century examples such as this became more open and decorative in design and were commissioned more for the Western market in the US and Europe and have since rivalled the look of the famous Ziegler carpets from Persia. With a subtle faded green background colour and muted orange to pinkish tone border, the palette is traditional with a contemporary feel. We could see this carpet working in either setting in a home.

In near perfect original condition, this Ushak has a dense wool pile all over. No areas of wear apparent and retains its original fringes. Washed and ready to be used, supplied with our tough anti-slip underlay which aids the carpet considerably, stopping movement on any floor type.
