Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Louis XV style furniture is defined by Rococo design elements, including flowing curves, serpentine crests, asymmetrical rocaille carvings, and cabriole legs. Popularised in 18th-century France, pieces emphasize natural motifs and elegant proportions.

Traditional Louis XV bedsteads are typically constructed from dense hardwoods such as walnut, oak, beech, or fruitwood. Decorators often incorporated parquetry or marquetry veneers to create geometric or floral timber patterns.

Authentic indicators include hand-carved decorative motifs such as stylized shells and foliage, curved structural side rails, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and geometric parquetry veneer work across large panel surfaces.

Anchor the room by pairing the detailed wood frame with neutral walls and plain, textured cotton or linen bedding. Contrast the curved carved timber with clean-lined contemporary bedside lighting and simple wool rugs.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber veneer. Keep the frame away from direct heat sources and maintain stable room humidity to prevent veneer lifting or wood movement.
