Antique Afghan Baluch Vanity Bag with Plain Weave Back, Circa 1920.

Description

Size: 1ft 7in x 1ft 7in (48 x 48cm).

Antique Baluch vanity bag with plain weave back.

Circa 1920.

These small bags were used for the storage of personal belongings, this example has a simple boxed medallion surrounded by floral rosettes. Note the very decorative row of white flower heads in weft work at the top and bottom of the bag. The bag is complete with its original undyed brown wool plain weave back.

The bag has been hand washed and is ready for display.
