Brave Fine Art has dated this piece to the 1930s.
Kronstrand was a fascinating and well-travelled artist.
He was always in high demand and previously painted President Taft's wife, Helen Louise Taft.

He worked quickly and generally began with a charcoal drawing, which was then painted over in semi-transparent oils. As you can see here, the drawing is still partially visible as the artist intended.

Little is known about the sitter aside from some published works regarding genealogy.
The portrait is signed/dated and framed.
