Description

This pretty Tabriz rug from North-West Persia has the hallmarks of good city weaving from the Revival Period at the end of the 19th century. The wool quality is excellent, the weave is fine, and the design is very well composed with interesting features. Note the dramatic medallion on a sapphire blue field which then unfolds into a terracotta red field all with elegant botehs and scrolling vines. The pretty border complements the field well. The rug has survived the generations in good condition with only very minor signs of wear. It has been professionally cleaned and is ready for immediate use.
