Description

Arthur Claude Strachan 1865-1939.Born In Edinburgh he was a fine landscape watercolourist best known for his beautiful and sentimental pictures of flower wreathed cottages and village scenes.Strachan studied at Liverpool College of Art and later travelled throughout Great Britain in order to paint the country life which he loved to portray.He lived in many places including the Cotswolds,Warwick,Evesham,New Brighton,Glasgow,Edinburgh,London,North Wales and Minehead.He exhibited at the Birmingham Art Gallery,Royal Institute of Watercolour Artists,Royal Academy and the Walker Art Gallery,Liverpool. ‘ Milking Time and The Morning Meal’ pair signed watercolours,original gilt frames,image size each 18 x 26 cms,framed size 38x46 cms. These are are both fine examples of the artists work.
