Description

This wonderful little Heriz rug is notable for its exceptional range of saturated colours, all of which have been created from natural dyes. It is astonishing to think that it was woven some 140 years ago in a remote rural setting, and yet the colours are as fresh and vibrant as the day it was made. The design is quite classic, 3 medallions woven on a sapphire blue ground. But the medallions are drawn so expressively while the filler ornaments around them add interest and even more colour. The terracotta border is also very pretty. It's a perfect little Persian rug which would light up many decorative spaces, both traditional and modern. The pile is in good condition. Professionally cleaned.
