FAQs

Art Deco sculpture emerged in France during the 1920s, heavily influenced by modernist movements, cubism, and global art forms. It frequently celebrated motion, sleek silhouettes, and everyday leisure using luxury materials.

Sculptors typically combined cast bronze with contrasting elements such as ivory, marble, onyx, and alabaster for the plinths to achieve rich visual textures.

Authentic period pieces exhibit precise foundry casting marks, natural patination consistent with age, and high-density stone bases rather than modern synthetic resins.

Place the sculpture on a clean-lined surface such as a mahogany sideboard or marble mantelpiece where its sculptural silhouette and mixed media can stand out.

Dust gently with a soft microfiber cloth and occasionally apply a very thin layer of microcrystalline wax to protect the metal patina from moisture and oxidation.
