Antique Uzbek Bokhara suzani.
Circa 1850.
They are then used to decorate the inside of the Yurt. They are embroidered in silk on strips of cotton which are then joined together to make the complete item. The suzani is then backed with fine cotton to give it strength and body.

This example is from Bukhara and features large multi coloured fan shaped flowers in groups entwined in a green leafy vine. The suzani has been embroidered in five strips.
The condition is excellent with only very slight wear and a few scattered old repairs, the suzani has a fine cotton ivory backing.
The suzani is ready for display or it could be used as a bed cover.
