Description

Dating to the 1930s, this impressive Persian carpet is from the group known as 'American Sarouks' as many of them were exported to the United States. However, there were few made in this great size. One can imagine it in a grand setting. The repeat design of scattered floral bouquets is charming and decorative, and is framed by a handsome floral border. Note the soft terracotta background, ideal for many types of decorative settings, and some lovely secondary colours such as yellows, greens and light blues. The quality of the weave is solid with great natural dyes and handspun wool. Given the age of this piece, it has survived in very good condition with only minor signs of wear. The ends are intact, the sides are original. Professionally cleaned this impressive carpet is ready for immediate use.
