Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 19th-century French Provincial bank of drapers drawers takes the form of a long, low chest with a ten-drawer layout arranged in two horizontal rows. Constructed from pine with a painted wood finish, the piece combines an off-white painted body with a dark-stained top surface. The construction incorporates wooden drawer pulls, panelled sides, and shaped bracket feet along the base. The proportions measure 97 cm high, 323 cm wide, and 65 cm deep, presenting an exceptionally extended silhouette suited for generous storage. In a contemporary home, this rustic farmhouse chest of drawers suits placement in a spacious kitchen, hallway, or utility space as a substantial focal point and practical storage unit. The sturdy top surface and ten deep drawers provide extensive surface area and organisation capacity for everyday household items, linens, or kitchenware.

FAQs

A bank of drapers drawers is a large commercial storage unit originally designed for nineteenth-century fabric shops and haberdasheries to hold bolts of cloth, ribbons, and tailoring supplies.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid hardwoods or softwoods, such as pine, oak, or fruitwood, featuring framed drawer construction and durable tops to withstand daily retail use.

Authentic examples feature uniform multi-drawer configurations, hand-dovetailed drawer joints, evidence of original paint layers or wood wear around the handles, and long, low proportions suited for retail counters.

This type of unit serves effectively as a kitchen island, dining room sideboard, or hallway storage console, providing substantial drawer capacity and a flat surface for display.

Clean surfaces gently using a soft, dry lint-free cloth and apply clear beeswax polish occasionally to preserve remaining paint finish and protect exposed wood from drying.
