Antique Tekke Turkmen Main Carpet, Small Room Size, Circa 1880.

Description

Size: 9ft 1in x 6ft 7in (278 x 201cm).

Antique Tekke Turkmen main carpet with 5 rows of 11 guls.

Circa 1880.

An excellent Tekke main carpet of small room size, rich deep madder red field has well drawn large round Tekke guls. The border is of the octogen design and has many tribal filler elements. Note the piled elem panels at each end with a simple stripe design. The large guls are woven with cochineal dye giving the carpet a very warm feel.

The carpet is in good condition with even wear with medium/low pile.

Both ends retain the original large piled elem panel end finishes.

The carpet is suitable for normal domestic use.

The carpet has been hand washed and is ready for use.
