Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A low press cabinet is a nineteenth-century storage piece developed as a variation of the traditional tall linen press. Designed at a lower height to allow for decorative displays on top, these cabinets featured a combination of central cupboard doors and surrounding drawers for holding folded linens and garments.

High-end Victorian low presses were constructed using dense hardwoods such as West Indian satinwood, mahogany, or walnut, often featuring figured veneers like birds eye or curl patterns. Interior drawers were frequently lined with oak or mahogany, fitted with cast brass handles and brass lever locks.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer linings, hand-planed back panels, and maker stamps or paper labels often impressed into top drawer edges or rear boards. The presence of original locks, aged brass hardware, and natural timber patination consistent with age also confirms authenticity.

In modern interior schemes, a satinwood low press works as a focal sideboard in a hallway, dining room, or living space. Contrast its warm golden tones against neutral, muted wall paint, and style the top surface with ceramic vessels, contemporary artwork, or minimalist table lamps.

Maintain satinwood furniture by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber. Keep the item away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent wood movement, veneer lifting, or uneven fading.
