Late 17th Century Carved Oak Settle

A late 17th century oak settle with well carved back and good original colour and patina; small restorations including a repaired chip and metal brackets under the front seat rail, recent tongue and grove boarding under the seat; it might originally have had an oak seat.
 
Chinnery illustrates an oak settle with carved panels and similar channel mouldings to the seat rails and back and similar arms and dates this to the late 17th century.
 
Provenance: bought in a barn in Wiltshire and was said to have come from Longleat!
